BRAND NEW BEGINNERS
EVENING - BALLROOM / LATIN / MODERN JIVE - MONDAY NIGHTS
This is a new concept in beginners classes - one hour each of
ballroom, latin and modern jive! You can choose
to do any or all of the classes and they are for complete
beginners - the aim is to teach you to get on the
floor confidently in your chosen dances!
The Ballroom hour at 7pm, the Latin hour at 8pm and the Modern Jive hour at
9pm.
Each class covers basic moves in depth; in the ballroom hour we
cover the Waltz, Quickstep and
Social Foxtrot;
in the Latin, we learn Rumba, Cha Cha Cha and
Rock Jive,
and in the Modern Jive, we will go
through all the
basic moves to enable you to dance at parties and dances!
The price is really attractive! Each class costs £4.25, 2
classes costs £8.00 but you can get all 3 for just £10.00!
YOU DON'T NEED A PARTNER for
any of the classes - simply turn up!
NB There will be no
class on 30th August (Bank Holiday) - normal classes resume
on 6th September

NEXT
MEDAL TEST - 21st NOVEMBER at SPOONER ROW
Those of you who would like to take a
medal for Modern Jive, please speak to Sandra or John.
Medals are taken through the
I.D.T.A. (International Dance Teachers Association) and an external examiner
comes to assess and mark
candidates.
Medals are fun to take as well as
giving you something to work towards and be justly proud of achieving! At
the
lower grades the work done in the beginner classes
is sufficient to dance, as the emphasis is on timing and
style rather than
quantity or difficulty value of
steps/figures. Everyone starts with the basic Social Dance
Award before progressing (with permission!) through Bronze, Bronze 2, Silver,
Silver 2, and so on to Gold
(and beyond!). You can choose to dance with
John or Sandra, and it is arranged that you are not the
only ones
dancing on the floor - you will always have another couple on
the floor taking their test at the same time, so
that you don't know which candidate the examiner is watching at any one time -
takes the pressure off! Don't
forget
- ladies can take their medals as a man dancer as well (where you
are judged on your leading skills as
well as your dancing). Although they have a serious side (as
you must be good enough to be entered to avoid
the risk of failure!!) they
are fun to do and do develop your dancing
skills. Consider taking one this time!
PRIVATE LESSONS -
available at Spooner Row
If you feel you would
like some personal tuition to help your dancing, private lessons are
always an option.
They are available in 30 minute, 45
minute or 1 hour slots at a rate of £13.00 per half hour. This is for up
to 4
people.
It can really help to
have individual attention for any problem areas - why not consider one!
DOUBLE TROUBLE
WORKSHOP- IMPROVERS
This workshop will offer
more moves for a man with 2 ladies! It will be a routine of more advanced
moves (not
too difficult!) which will look good on any
dance floor - price £6.25 - this will take place sometime in the summer
and will be suitable for anyone who can already
dance "twosies" or who has been to the beginners workshop
